What are macros (dynamic variables; tracking tokens)?

Macros (dynamic variables; tracking tokens) allow information to be inserted into UTM parameters to capture data in the analytics program of choice. For example, &utm_campaign={ad_id} will place the ID of the ad into the utm_campaign parameter.

Here are common macros you will encounter and what they mean:

{device}

The type of device the individual who clicks the ad is using – i.e. Desktop or Mobile. Note that Desktop includes Tablet.

{campaign_ID}

The unique Campaign ID of the individual campaign.

{ad_id}

The Ad Inventory ID of the ad that generated the click.

{widget_id}

Identifies the Widget ID that generated the click.

{campaign_name}

The name assigned to the campaign.

{ad_title}

The title of the advertisement.
